Car Museum for Nilanga Dela Bandara at Koswatta

Mr Nilanga Dela Bandara, a well-known collector of vintage cars in Sri Lanka, desired a single venue to display his collection because his cars were distributed over the country. This project was given a forty-perch plot of land near his residence in Aggona, Rajagiriya. A rectangular plot of property with one side bordering the main road and the other facing a private road that we utilised as the main entrance to the premises.

A one-of-a-kind and the intriguing project was created solely for the goal of presenting a magnificent collection of vintage cars, with a minimalist design to bring the viewer’s attention to the vehicles. The architecture strives to depict the bygone era to which these historic cars belonged in terms of aesthetics, evoking a sense of nostalgia.

The vintage collection will be displayed without any distractions thanks to the semi-circular glass openings with relatively bigger spans. The red brick exposed wall just above the arches emphasises the structure’s historical appearance while also evoking colonial-style.
